Set up a dedicated device (an old phone, PC, or a small Raspberry Pi with a camera module) pointed outside, switch to "Monitor" mode, and check in from any device on your network - live, or via saved snapshots.

Note on remote viewing over the internet: when STUN/TURN remote access is enabled, iPhone can only join as a viewer over your local Wi-Fi — it can't connect as a viewer over the internet. Android can join as a viewer either way, local Wi-Fi or over the internet. Text messaging between the camera device and viewer works on both iPhone and Android in both cases.

On the Roadmap

A phone works great as a viewer, but it's an expensive, awkward thing to leave propped up outside pointed at your porch. We're working on something purpose-built for the camera end.

A small, low-cost camera device built around a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and camera module - roughly the size of a deck of cards, costs a fraction of a phone, and comes with a stand/mount so it can sit in a fixed, stable position outdoors instead of leaning a phone against a windowsill. Pre-configured to boot straight into GoTuned on your Wi-Fi - no setup beyond joining your network. Same local-only, no-subscription model as the rest of GoTuned.
